The preteen’s body was found dead, her limbs bound by an orange rope, by a road outside Santiago City a few hours later.
The youngster had been administered at least 27 Lorazepam pills on that unfortunate day, the coroner said, and asphyxiation was the cause of death. It is a lethal dosage. The investigation’s conclusion, which shocked all of Spain, showed that the adoptive parents, Alfonso and Rosario, had drugged their daughter for three months with Lorazepam before killing her by choking her.
Both parents provided evasive and inconsistent explanations for their incarceration, but none of them held up. In an attempt to get out, they also repeatedly altered their accounts to fit the fresh evidence the police unearthed. Rosario was apprehended attempting to collect a piece of orange rope from the wastebasket while using the restroom at their home, which served as the crime scene.
