For SAND LAND: THE SERIES, the anime series that adapts Akira Toriyama’s SAND LAND manga, Bandai Namco Entertainment started to stream a teaser promotional video on Friday. Unreleased SAND LAND anime film footage, well-known manga sequences, and a brand-new Toriyama narrative that picks up where the movie left off will all be included in the anime series. Returning actors and crew from the Series will also be included in the series.
STORY OF THE SAND LAND: THE SERIES S01
In a distant future where conflict has decimated the planet, all that remains is a desolate wasteland where the avaricious monarch controls the water supply. Sheriff Rao begged the demon king for assistance in finding a long-lost lake, and he received it in the form of Beelzebub, the king’s son, and Thief, his sidekick.
Along the way, the unusual group encounters robbers, dragons, and the King’s army, which proves to be their most formidable adversary. In this brand-new tale from Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama, there’s travel adventure mixed with tank combat!

The anime series will once again be directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima (“Tales of Crestoria: The Wake of Sin,” “Amanatsu,” “Cocolors,” Dragon Quest game sequences), with directorial adviser Hiroshi Koujina (Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis, The Vampire Dies in No Time, Grenadier) returning.
The anime series is written by Hayashi Mori (Cells at Work! Code Black, Drifting Home), directed by Yoshikazu Iwanami (again), with music composed by Yugo Kanno (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Psycho-Pass, Ajin).
Toriyama serialized the brief Sand Land manga series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000. In November 2000, Shueisha released the manga in one collected book edition.
RELEASE UPDATES OF THE SAND LAND: THE SERIES SEASON 1
Japan opened to the August 18 premiere of the anime film version of the manga. July 22 at Comic-Con International San Diego this year marked the film’s international premiere; it will open in North America in 2024.
A role-playing action game based on the manga will also be released on April 26 (April 25 in Japan) for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
