This significant historical drama, which is based on Amor Towles’ historical novel A Gentleman in Moscow, centres on Count Rostov, who discovers that his once-privileged life has put him on the wrong side of history following the Russian Revolution.

In place of being put to death by a Soviet trial, he is exiled to the lavish Hotel Metropol for all time and given the threat of death if he attempts to return. As the years go on, decades of turbulent history are being played out outside the hotel, where Rostov establishes a new existence.

“It’s an incredible, fantastic tale and I am incredibly thrilled to have such a fantastic part,” remarks Ewan McGregor, who is also the show’s executive producer.

PLOT UPDATES OF A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW SEASON 1

Following the Russian Revolution, an aristocrat named Count Alexander Rostov (played by Ewan McGregor) is sentenced to “house arrest” and spared from execution by a Bolshevik tribunal in 1922.

Rostov has to spend his final years in an attic room in the lavish Hotel Metropol, which is located across from the Kremlin, after living in luxury for years. Decades of history are falling apart around Rostov as he searches for meaning in his life, but he is also making profoundly personal discoveries.

Because of his less complicated situation, Rostov is able to explore a far wider realm of emotional exploration. He learns the true meaning of friendship, family, and love as he starts afresh inside the hotel’s walls.

A small child named Nina (Alexa Goodall) and a movie actress named Anna Urbanova (Mary Ann Winstead) are two of his strange new friends.
