Reacher, Amazon Prime Video’s immensely successful series, has already been renewed for a third season, with plenty of intriguing tidbits about the next episodes. Reacher, based on Lee Child’s novel series, follows the eponymous character as he leverages his years as a military investigator to solve high-profile cases after transitioning to civilian life.
Prime Video’s programme, which combines the book series’ humour and charm with plenty of exhilarating onscreen action, has quickly become one of its most popular products.
Critics praised Reacher, particularly for its adherence to Lee Child’s book series (via Rotten Tomatoes). Aside from its critical acclaim, Reacher proved to be a huge magnet for Prime Video, and the series was renewed for a second season while other shows were cancelled by the streaming service.
Season 2 is predicted to continue the Reacher series’ upward trend, but its success will have little impact on the fate of season 3. In an unprecedented move, Reacher season 3 was approved even before season 2 began.

Unlike other shows, which had to wait months between seasons, Reacher season 3 was renewed before season 2 even began. The extraordinary move by Prime Video demonstrates the streamer’s confidence in the popularity of its newest TV behemoth, and season 3 is already in the works to capitalise even more on the success. Reacher’s destiny after season 3 is unknown, but Amazon may want to lock in further seasons sooner rather than later.
CAST UPDATES OF REACHER SEASON 3
Given the anthology structure of Reacher’s stories, it is difficult to predict who will appear in the third season. Alan Ritchson will undoubtedly resume his role as the powerfully muscled Reacher, and Maria Stern has confirmed her comeback as Frances Neagley. The rest of the ensemble will most likely be new, as each of Reacher’s excursions include fresh characters.
Season 3 features a plethora of new cast members, including Anthony Michael Hall’s crooked billionaire Zachary Beck and Sonya Cassidy’s DEA Agent Susan Duffy. Brian Tee has been cast as the malevolent Quinn, a figure with ties to Reacher’s mysterious past.
Johnny Berchtold will play Richard Beck, a college student whose attempted kidnapping serves as the season’s inciting episode. Reacher will be accompanied by Roberto Montesinos’ DEA Agent Guillermo Villanueva and rookie Agent Steven Elliot, played by Daniel David Stewart.

After much debate over which of Lee Child’s novels would be the subject of season 3, series actor Alan Richson finally settled the matter in January 2024, revealing that Persuader would be the source.
The eighth Reacher novel, Persuader, follows the titular hero as he is enlisted to assist bring down a prominent drug kingpin by infiltrating his enterprise. Meanwhile, Reacher is charged with rescuing an undercover DEA agent who is deep within the organisation and is about to lose his cover.
Though each season has used the books as a jumping off point, Reacher season 3 will not strictly follow the novel, as demonstrated by Frances Neagley’s return. Reacher’s sidekick and confidant has been in every season to date, and Stern has already been confirmed to return in season 3, despite the fact that Neagley did not appear in Child’s Persuader.
RELEASE DATE UPDATES OF REACHER SEASON 3
Season 1 was filmed from April 15 to July 30, 2021, and premiered on Prime Video on February 4, 2022. That means filming took around three and a half months, with an extra six months for post-production. Given that production has already begun, the earliest we can expect “Reacher” season 3 to air is in October 2024.
