Leading film directors will be included in the new six-part National Geographic series PHOTOGRAPHER, which will also provide viewers with a better understanding of each photographer’s workflow.
World-famous conservation photographers Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen, along with Academy Award–winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, recently shared with ProVideo Coalition’s readers their work on Sony’s short film “The Knowing”.
We’re back now to continue following the work of the two in a brand-new series called PHOTOGRAPHER, which shines a light on the most remarkable visual storytellers in the world and teams them up with the top documentarians of today to create an unforgettable journey that explores art, passion, and the power of perspective in a fast-paced, diverse, and international setting.
WHAT ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER SEASON 1:
The first trailer for the six-part series PHOTOGRAPHER, which debuts on National Geographic on March 18 at 8 p.m. EDT, was released by the network.
In each one-hour episode, the lives of renowned photographers such as Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, Campbell Addy, Dan Winters, Krystle Wright, Muhammad Muheisen, and Anand Varma are followed as they strive to create timeless, memorable photographs.
A better knowledge of each photographer’s methodology, their artistic journey, and their perspective on the world will be shown to viewers through vérité footage of their current mission interlaced with interviews and archived material.
The eight renowned directors who have skillfully brought each of the photographers’ stories to life were named today by National Geographic, in conjunction with the trailer’s release.
Every episode is a thrilling, breathtakingly beautiful journey that immerses viewers in an engrossing universe where each frame conveys a moving and inspirational tale.
From the perceptive vision of award-winning duo E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (“Free Solo”) to the expert direction of Marshall Curry (“Racing Dreams”), Pagan Harleman (“The Trade”), Crystal Kayiza (“Rest Stop”), Sam Pollard (“MLK/FBI”), Kristi Jacobson (“Solidarity”), and Rita Baghdadi (“Sirens”), each episode highlights a different story.
