Although Limitless introduced viewers to the world created by the Bradley Cooper film, will it be back for a second season? Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born) as Eddie Morra in the film Limitless. Eddie is a struggling writer who takes an experimental medication that significantly increases his intelligence. This soon makes him wealthy and successful, but the drug’s harmful side effects and the adversaries he meets along the way soon pose a threat to his life.
Cooper’s status as a rising star was cemented by the movie’s popularity, which also enjoyed playing around with the idea. With Morra campaigning for the Senate, the film’s ending set up a sequel, but this time it was a CBS television series called Limitless.
Four years after the events of the film, Cooper reprises his role as Morra in the television series, but he gives Jake McDorman’s Brian Finch the lead. After taking the same medication, Finch ends up assisting the FBI in investigating crimes and occasionally getting advice from Morra. LIMITLESS WAS CANCELED BY CBS AFTER SEASON ONE
In 2016, not long after its season finale, Limitless was canceled. Although the show had a high rating when it first premiered, as the series went on, the numbers gradually declined, and CBS President Glenn Geller believed the show hadn’t made a significant impression on viewers. The network decided not to continue the show even though season one ended on a cliffhanger.
LIMITLESS SEASON TWO WAS SHOPPED TO OTHER PLATFORMS
Before the program was canceled, the second season of Limitless was really cast around. The creators hoped that Netflix and Amazon would be interested in carrying it, but neither company did. Even though the show’s ratings had clearly declined, it ended with respectable figures, but not enough to persuade another platform to give it a try.
LIMITLESS SEASON 2 WOULD HAVE CHANGED UP THE FORMAT
It may be argued that Limitless’s decision to transform its literally mind-altering concept into a procedural wasn’t the most inventive one. The dynamics of Limitless would have been significantly altered if the NZT drug and Morra’s disappearance had become public knowledge in season 2.
However, it doesn’t seem like there would have been a significant change because the main plot of Limitless season 2 would still have involved Finch investigating murders.
In addition, Morra declared his intention to run for president, which undoubtedly would have been a significant side story. Unfortunately, season 2 is quite unlikely given Netflix and other platforms have long since passed on it.
