HERE ARE THE LATEST UPDATES OF THE MOVIE CALLED CIVIL WAR
After making a name for himself writing films such as 28 Days Later and Sunshine, Alex Garland went on to direct Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Men. Garland has always felt very much in touch with contemporary society. Garland will now release Civil War, arguably his scariest film to date, to theatregoers.
The new A24 film appears to be on par with everything else Garland has produced over the years, with Kirsten Dunst, Nick Offerman, and numerous other actors leading various sides of a great struggle between the American government and rebel states.
CAST UPDATES OF CIVIL WAR
The cast of Civil War is led by Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, and Wagner Moura, albeit we don’t yet know the identities of their characters. From what we’ve seen of the film so far, it seems that the actors will be portraying journalists reporting the subsequent military combat and civil upheaval brought on by different states rebelling against the US government as it is portrayed in the film.
Civil War, which opens in April 2024, will be Dunst’s first feature picture since Power of the Dog, which debuted in 2021 and earned Jane Campion an Oscar for Best Director. After playing the lead in Sofia Coppola’s A24 movie Priscilla, which brought her a Golden Globe nomination, Spaeny is riding high.
In the 2022 animated feature Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Moura made his final appearance as Wolf, also known as one of the greatest DreamWorks villains to date.
PLOT DETAILS OF CIVIL WAR’S
According to the teaser, the film is set in a not too distant future in which a number of US states 19 to be exact have broken away from the federal government, starting a new civil war. With it as the backdrop, the official A24 synopsis for the film is as follows:
“A race to the White House in a near-future America balanced on the razor’s edge.” Alex Garland not only directed Civil War, but also penned the screenplay.
