A clandestine military experiment transmits signals into space in an attempt to make contact with extraterrestrials against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution. The signal is picked up by an impending alien civilization that makes plans to attack Earth.

As this is going on, many groups on Earth begin to organise, with the intention of either fighting the alien invasion or welcoming the superior aliens and assisting them in taking over a planet that is perceived as corrupt.

According to reports, there will be 24 episodes of 3 Body Problem, each lasting about 60 minutes. Additionally, there have been suggestions of possible spin-offs for the show. Given that the show spans multiple eras, it’s not surprising that Netflix is considering growing the series with potential spin-offs.

The narrative of 3 Body Problem takes place in two time periods: the current era and the Chinese Cultural Revolution of the 1960s. Liam Cunningham, John Bradley, Jonathan Pryce, Benedict Wong, Tsai Chin, Eiza Gonzalez, Alex Sharp, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Saamer Usmani, Jovan Adepo, Fences, Sea Shimooka, Arrow, Rosalind Chao, Warcraft, Jason Forbes, Borg/McEnroe, Stacy Abalogun, Death on the Nile, Jess Hong, Brokenwood Mysteries, Dare Me, and newcomers Zine Tseng and Eve Lindley are among the actors starring in the series. At present, it is unclear which cast member portrays which role. The sole identifiable character from the few views given to viewers during the Tudum event is Zine Tseng’s Ye Wenjie, whose main plot takes place in the 1960s.
