On July 17, Hulu will host the second season premiere of the television series UnPrisoned. In the humorous drama series Unprisoned, Kerry Washington plays Paige, a therapist, and the relationship she has with her father when he is released from prison.

This next season of the sitcom will be centered more around Paige’s family and their challenges. Even a “family radical healing coach” will be sent in to assist them.

RECAP OF THE UNPRISONED SEASON 1:

Following Mal’s successful bail of Edwin from jail in the first season of UnPrisoned, the two had an emotional discussion about how Edwin’s previous deeds had impacted Paige’s life. Edwin determines it’s time to move out and start over after realizing how much stress his presence causes Paige.

As creator McMillan noted in a 2023 interview with the Wrap, Edwin is aware of the disparity in their responsibilities, with Paige functioning more as a parent than he does.

As long as his daughter acts more like the parent and he acts more like the child, [Edwin] is aware that this situation will not work. By not moving in with her, at least temporarily, I think he’s ultimately attempting to make things right.

ABOUT THE UNPRISONED SEASON 2:

The show centers on Paige, a busy therapist, social media star, and single mother to her son Finn. Things become considerably more difficult when her father, Edwin (Delroy Lindo), is released from prison.

“The Alexander family is still a mess,” stated the Unprisoned’s official summary. Edwin is still trying to figure out how to pull his life together outside of prison, Finn’s anxiety is through the roof, Paige’s therapy practice is in jeopardy, and their relationships are more tangled than ever.

It’s time to bring in a professional—someone other than Paige—because the family needs assistance. The Alexanders seek the help of a “family radical healing coach,” who disobeys all the guidelines in order to release them from the problems, memories, and family secrets that are preventing them from moving forward.

CAST AND CREW OF THE UNPRISONED SEASON 2:

In season 2, the cast of The Unprisoned will return to their original roles. Kerry Washington plays Paige Alexander, Delroy Lindo plays Edwin Alexander, Jordyn McIntosh plays Little Paige, Marque Richardson plays Mal, Brenda Strong plays Nadine, Faly Rakotohavana plays Finn, Jee Young Han plays Esti Nelson, and Edwin Lee Gibson plays Fox in the ensemble cast.

Simpson Street production business and Delroy Lindo collaborated on the series, which is executive produced by Tracy McMillan, Yvette Lee Bowser, Kerry Washington, and Pilar Savone.
