When Astrid Lindgren’s beloved adventure novel about the strong and self-reliant Ronja was released more than 40 years ago, it became an international bestseller. Global sales of the book have reached an astounding eleven million copies. Viewers may now get a better understanding of Ronja’s universe thanks to Netflix’s TV series adaptation of the book.
The 1984 film adaption of “Ronia, The Robber’s Daughter” was based on the Swedish children’s fantasy novel that was first published in 1981. The movie did not receive a nomination for the 58th Academy Awards, despite being Sweden’s representative. On March 28, 2024, Netflix is scheduled to release the much anticipated series “Ronja The Robber’s Daughter.”

The adventures of a bold and disobedient girl born into a gang of robbers in a medieval Scandinavian fortress are chronicled in Ronja the Robber’s Daughter. Ronja learns about the weird and enigmatic creatures that inhabit the enchanted but perilous forest as she gets older.
Despite this, she feels more comfortable in the wilderness than within the massive castle. A infamous bailiff shows up to finally rid the forest of robbers, and Ronja’s encounter with the young boy Birk from a rival gang starts a nasty family rivalry and the emergence of a forbidden friendship.

Reintroducing members to one of the most beloved stories in Sweden, “The Bridge” and “Marcella” creator Hans Rosenfeldt’s vast yet authentic retelling of the original tale is created by Filmlance.
Starring among others are Kerstin Linden, Christopher Wagelin, Sverrir Gudnason, Pernilla August, and Johan Ulveson, the series is being released in two parts.
With assistance from Creative Europe and the European Union, the series is produced by Banijay subsidiary Filmlance International in collaboration with Viaplay, Film i Vast, Ahil, and ARD Degeto.
