DEADPOOL SEASON 3: Deadpool & Wolverine, which will carry on Ryan Reynolds’ story as Wade Wilson in the MCU, is the next installment in the Deadpool franchise. Ryan Reynolds was even more determined to play Deadpool fairly on the big screen after his underwhelming performance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Deadpool 2 made the character a sought-after commodity, and Deadpool 1 demonstrated the character’s appeal. Now, Deadpool will make his third appearance in the MCU, bringing Wolverine and Deadpool together for the first time ever when Hugh Jackman joins the cast of Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine are the most anticipated MCU films just based on that information alone.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now positioned to be a key part of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga due to his trip between universes, from Fox’s X-Men franchise timeline to multiple places already visited by previous MCU films and shows.
Disney and Marvel first confirmed that the Merc with a Mouth would be joining the MCU at SDCC 2022, with Reynolds confirming the first release date later that same year. As Deadpool & Wolverine’s 2024 release approaches, more details about the MCU film are becoming known.
RELEASE DATE UPDATES OF DEADPOOL SEASON 3
Deadpool & Wolverine’s current release date is July 26, 2024, which is a significant advance from its previously announced release date of November 8, 2024. Ryan Reynolds had originally announced that the film would be released in September 2024, but due to production delays on Blade, he moved this date along with other Phase 5 and 6 MCU projects.
After Shawn Levy was brought on board to direct Deadpool & Wolverine, he revealed that production would not start on the film until 2023 at the earliest because of his other commitments, and the SAG-AFTRA strikes further delayed the project.
Deadpool and Wolverine will be prepared for participation in MCU Phase 5 by 2022. Deadpool & Wolverine will be the only MCU film of 2024, taking place squarely in the middle of Phase 5’s film releases.
The Deadpool threequel is currently scheduled to arrive eight months after The Marvels (November 2023) and seven months before Captain America: Brave New World (July 2024) in the MCU’s current schedule. This matches Marvel Studios’ new strategy to lower the annual output of the franchise and space out the MCU’s releases.
TRAILER UPDATES OF DEADPOOL SEASON 3
On February 11, 2024, the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine was unveiled at Super Bowl LVIII. The primary multiverse plot of Deadpool & Wolverine is revealed in the trailer, which mostly focuses on Deadpool’s recruitment by the TVA and his feelings upon joining the MCU.
The most of the movie’s multiverse shocks are, however, left out of this first teaser, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine appears just twice—once from behind and once as a shadow, just before he charges at Deadpool. Emma Corrin’s Marvel adversary is also first seen in the trailer; a single, fleeting glimpse of his silhouette is presented.
