A new Netflix documentary series called Can I Tell You A Secret will now tell the lives of some of the women who were targeted by Hardy.
ABOUT CAN I TELL YOU A SECRET?
Can I Tell You A Secret? was produced in collaboration with The Guardian and features original reporting by Sirin Kale. narrates the tales of some of the women who were targeted by Hardy and who suffered years of harassment online. The two-part series’ title is a play on words from Hardy’s first letter to his victims.
The official synopsis for the show on Netflix states that it is “told through the testimony of the women directly impacted and explores how Hardy’s stalking tore apart many lives, the subsequent police investigation and how Hardy was ultimately brought to justice by not just the police but the women themselves.”
Can I Tell You A Secret? It’s a twisted tale. examines a crime that is frequently disregarded and serves as a warning about the degree of deception and actual harm that may be caused online.
The first show that Louis Theroux’s production company Mindhouse has been commissioned by Netflix is this one. Executive producer Nancy Strang stated, “Hardy’s prolonged campaign of harassment has had a lasting and profound impact on the women he targeted.”
“I hope their testimonies will change the conversation about what constitutes harm in the digital age and shed light on the reality of online stalking.”
PRODUCTION DETAILS OF CAN I TELL YOU A SECRET?
In collaboration with the UK newspaper the Guardian, Mindhouse is producing the new two-part series.
Tash Gaunt is the director of the series and Liza Williams (The Yorkshire Ripper Files) is the director. Lindsay Poulton is the Guardian’s executive producer, and Sirin Kale, a feature journalist for the publication who has extensively chronicled Hardy’s crimes and hosted a corresponding podcast, provided the original reporting.
Together with Aloke Devichand, a filmmaker and former Netflix Asia head of documentaries who joined the indie last year, Strang will exec produce for Mindhouse.
Hardy’s protracted harassment campaign “has had a profound and lasting impact on the women he targeted,” according to Strang. “I hope their testimonies will change the conversation about what constitutes harm in the digital age and shed light on the reality of online stalking.”

The BBC sports documentaries Gods of Snooker and Gods of Tennis, the CNN co-pro Columbia: The Final Flight (working title), the Sky documentary Lockerbie, and Sex Actually starring Alice Levine are among the projects produced by Mindhouse. On February 3, the company’s next documentary, Tell Them You Love Me, premieres on Sky in the UK.
