Russia’s football confederation has decided not to appeal Fifa’s World Cup ban, which was issued in the face of the country’s irruption of Ukraine. The Football Union of Russia ( FUR) had expostulated to the suspense, still, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has now ruled that the FUR’s appeal has been withdrawn.

Russia had qualified for a play-off semi-final against Poland, but the Poles were given a bye to face Sweden rather. Uefa’s prohibition on Russian clubs’ participation in European club competitions, similar to Spartak Moscow’s rejection from the Europa League, is one of them.

Uefa has also barred the Russian women’s public platoon from participation in Euro 2022, which will be held in England this summer, due to a number of countries refusing to share against Russia. FIFA has issued a ban from transnational football as a result of Moscow’s irruption of Ukraine, according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The Polish, Swedish, and Czech Republic Football Associations pushed for the ban after refusing to play Russia in transnational events.
