Sheryl Sandberg Updates: Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Meta, abruptly ended her 14-year tenure in the position. Sandberg, a close friend and confidante of Mark Zuckerberg, joined the business while it was still known as Facebook in the beginning.

She has likely contributed as much to Facebook’s expansion as Mark Zuckerberg himself, thus the majority of people were shocked when she revealed her intention to depart the organisation. Yet why? According to Sandberg, she wants to concentrate on philanthropy.

However, there is a rumour that her departure from Facebook, also known as Meta, was prompted by recent news stories that claimed she used her influence to support her ex-boyfriend.

As is frequently the case with individuals who play important roles in large corporations and are highly visible to the public, there have been a number of scandals involving Sandberg, but the most recent one might be the most significant and harmful to her.

This one covers some purported favours Sandberg performed for her ex-boyfriend to shield him from negative publicity.

In a stunning article published earlier in April 2022, the Wall Street Journal revealed how Sandberg had come under fire from the Meta board for allegedly using her position to stifle two reports on her ex-boyfriend Bobby Kotick.

He is the CEO of Activision Blizzard at the moment and a tech executive as well. According to WSJ, Sandberg contacted the Daily Mail in 2016 and 2019 to ask them to delete two Kotick-related stories that may have revealed the existence of restraining orders against Kotick for allegedly harassing his former fiancée.

According to reports, Sandberg was concerned that her standing as a supporter of women would suffer as a result of her close friendship with a man who had been accused of harassing a woman.

According to the WSJ, Sandberg threatened the Daily Mail that their business relationship with Facebook would be severated if the aforementioned report was published. Business relationships with social media companies are crucial for media companies.

When the report surfaced, Sandberg reportedly came under intense internal investigation at the firm, but Meta publicly refuted all the accusations. In order to influence an editorial choice, Sheryl Sandberg never threatened Mail Online’s economic partnership with Facebook, according to a Facebook representative at the time.

This narrative tries to draw links between unrelated events. According to reports, Meta launched an internal inquiry soon after the WSJ article was published to ascertain whether Sandberg had broken company policy and abused her position to stifle a story for her own benefit.

The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, is said to have removed some of Sandberg’s responsibilities as a result of the accusations against her. Now, it’s possible that Sandberg’s resignation from the position of COO is related to this entire problem.

It is unlikely that Meta or Sandberg will ever provide further information about this publicly, though. Sandberg praises Meta and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg in her final statement. “I have never needed to turn to Mark because he was already there in the crucial periods of my life, in the highest highs and in the depths of true lows,” she wrote.
