The Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless noise-canceling headphones have been released in a number of countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. The Japanese company’s latest flagship headphones are supposed to have a battery life of up to 30 hours and a quick charging feature that promises 3 hours of listening in just 3 minutes of charging.

The headphones, according to Sony, include industry-leading noise reduction and a revolutionary design. The headphones compete with the Bose Quiet Comfort 45 headphones, which were just released in India.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless noise-canceling headphones are priced at $399 (approximately Rs. 30,850) in the United States and £379 (about Rs. 35,800) in the United Kingdom.

They’re available for preorder in both countries, and shipping will begin on May 20. There is no word on when the headphones would be available in India. The headphones compete with the recently released Bose Quiet Comfort 45 headphones.

According to Sony, the WH-1000XM5 is lightweight and features newly created soft fit leather. According to the manufacturer, the material used in the headphones relieves pressure on the ears. The headphones have a silent joint, a stepless slider, and a swivel and hanger.

Sony claims that the headphones have a 30mm driver unit with a soft TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) edge for increased noise cancellation. To boost sound clarity, a carbon fiber composite material and a high stiffness dome are used.

Sony claims to have used lead-free solder with gold for conductivity, a Fine Sound Resistor for uniform power distribution, and enhanced circuitry for a better signal-to-noise ratio to offer clear sound. Edge with DSEE Extreme is also used by the Sony WH-1000XM5 to upscale compressed digital music files in real-time.

Integrated Processor V1 and HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 control a total of eight microphones in the headphones. The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones now have a new Auto NC Optimizer feature that optimizes noise cancellation based on your wearing conditions and environment.

The headphones’ Precise Speech Pickup Technology and superior audio signal processing are touted to be calibrated to solely pick up the wearer’s voice for conversation. Speak-to-Chat, for example, automatically stops music and lets in ambient sound when the wearer initiates a chat.

When you take off or put on the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones, a capacitive sensor pauses and plays music. Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple’s Siri are all supported by headphones. They have a Quick Attention mode and a touch panel for music control.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones have Bluetooth v5.2 connectivity and can connect to two devices at the same time. For Windows 11/Windows 10 PCs, there are Google’s Fast Pair and Swift Pair features. They can be utilized in wired mode as well.

When it comes to battery life, the headphones are said to last up to 30 hours with ANC turned off and up to 24 hours with ANC turned on. According to Sony, they can be fully charged in 3.5 hours. After 3 minutes of fast charging, the headphones are touted to last for 3 hours. The Sony | 360 Spatial Sound Personalizes app can be used to optimize the output of the headphones.
