Robert Iger thinks the entertainment business needs to make inroads into the metaverse in order to manufacture and sell digital things.

Robert Iger, the former CEO of Disney, has joined the Genies metaverse platform. Iger, who led the American entertainment conglomerate for fifteen years, has joined the board of directors of the web3 company in Los Angeles.

The 71-year-position old’s will entail bringing the entertainment and virtual worlds together.

Iger thinks the entertainment business needs to make inroads into the metaverse in order to manufacture and sell digital things. In addition, Iger is a Genies shareholder.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the convergence of technology and art, and Genies offers unique and fascinating chances to harness the power of that combination to enable new forms of creativity, expression, and connection,” Iger said, according to Fortune.

On March 14, an official announcement was made on Twitter about the development.

Genies, a platform for creating avatars, was founded in 2017 by Akash Nigam, an Indian-origin CEO.

The firm is based in Venice, California and is registered in the United States.

Nigam surprised the former Disney CEO by changing him into a virtual avatar clothed in black.

The 27-year-old Genies CEO added, “His voracious curiosity intersects perfectly with our intense passion to deliver avatars to everyone.”

According to research, the metaverse market will be worth $800 billion by 2024 (approximately Rs. 59,58,719 crore).

Indian entertainment companies, like T-Series, have recently entered the metaverse.

International performers such as Travis Scott, Justin Bieber, Marshmello, and Ariana Grande have previously held metaverse concerts, allowing them to amuse their fans without having to conform to COVID-19’s social distance standards.
