River City Girls is a brawler with a beat ’em up feel to it. The player can choose between Kyoko and Misako, who have similar moves but different animations and moves. Waves of adversaries and bosses are on the prowl for the chosen character (s). Similar to Shodai Nekketsu Kha Kuniokun and Shin Nekketsu Kha: Kuniotachi no Banka, the player advances through six areas in a sequential fashion. The player has the same freedom to return to prior areas as in River City Ransom, but they must complete certain battles and objectives in order to progress to the new places in their current area. Chains and a lock will surround the edges of the screen in numerous spots where battle is engaged for the first time. The player will be unable to exit the location until all adversaries have been defeated at this moment. The game has six bosses; in order to move to the next region, the player must defeat the current area’s boss.As in River City Ransom, defeated adversaries drop money for the player to gather. Money can be spent in a variety of stores to buy products, food, and gear that will help you improve your stats. Money can also be used to supplement the basic set of fighting moves by purchasing new ones from the Dojo.

The abilities are all simple to use, consisting of a direction and a button; the difficulty for skilled players comes from chaining the simple techniques together to make long combos. In River City Ransom: Underground, characters gain experience points and level ups by defeating adversaries. Quests reward both characters with experience and money, ensuring that the one the user is not using in a single player game does not fall behind in levels or money. Enemies become stronger as bosses are killed in the game. They may surrender after beating the final adversary in a certain location. The player has the option of either defeating the opponent or recruiting them. Enemies that have been recruited can be summoned to help the player, but only one recruit can be held at a time.During the game, the player can pick up numerous things and use them as makeshift weapons, but they will shatter after a few uses.If the player loses all of their stamina and is defeated (or both characters in multiplayer), they must restart the current room and lose some of their cash, but their health is fully restored. If only one character is knocked out in multiplayer, the other player can resurrect them by standing over their corpse and continuously kicking their departing spirit back into it.A timer is used by an angel who leaves the character’s body so that the other player can accomplish the revival as quickly as feasible.Godai, the Kuniokun character, will offer players various side tasks once he is introduced. The player can also interact with a variety of non-player characters (NPCs). Kunio and Riki become selectable characters when the player completes the game once.

River City Girls 2

River City Girls is Arc System Works and Way Forward’s first cooperation, and it’s the second time Way Forward has worked on a Techns Japan Corp intellectual property, having previously worked on Double Dragon Neon. The game took approximately three years to produce.Adam Tierney and Bannon Rudis directed River City Girls, with the latter having previously worked on River City Ransom: Underground. Tierney approached Rudis with the notion of codirecting a new Kuniokun instalment and taking the game in a “goofy, hilarious direction.”Rudis decided to work on the game after seeing what Tierney had done. The idea was to make a River City Ransom game that was more expressive and larger in presentation than prior Kuniokun games in the spirit of Shantae (Way Forward’s flagship series). The goal of the game was to exude style, with each character having their own distinct moves to emphasise their personalities. Rudis worked as an assistant director on the game’s fighting mechanics, attempting to make them as near to an Arc System Works fighting game as possible while minimising the play controls and inputs to make the game more like the Super Smash Bros. games or Dragon Ball FighterZ.

The beat ’em up genre is making a comeback: River City Girls 2 will be released next year. It’s situated in the same universe as River City Ransom and promises “bone crunching action.” We now know when we will be able to join the war.River City Girls 2 will be released in summer 2022, as confirmed during Nintendo’s December Indie World Showcase. We don’t have a definite release date yet, but it will be available on more platforms than just the Switch. Players on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC will be able to participate.
