Red Notice: Netflix Release Date & What we know so far

Red Notice With a rumored production budget of up to $200 million, the larger-than-life wrestler-turned-Netflix actor’s debut may easily be Netflix’s biggest movie ever.

Johnson will be joined by two extremely bankable movie stars and genuine superheroes, with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds portraying “the world’s greatest conman” and Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot playing a famed art thief, so it appears to be money well spent.

Release Date Of Red Notice

Dwayne Johnson revealed on Twitter that Red Notice will be available to stream worldwide on Netflix starting November 12th. The picture has been in the works for a while, beginning with Universal Pictures before transferring to Netflix in July 2019, with the three main actors receiving $20 million paydays in the process (via Variety).

According to Hiram Garcia, President of Production of Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, filming began in January 2020 but was halted in March despite having 60 days remaining to shoot. “Around that time, I will never forget we were at the midway point of Red Notice and we were practically going to Italy the following week as cases started to pick up, and we had to pull the plug and suspend production maybe 72 hours later,” Garcia explained.

Red Notice

There isn’t a trailer for Red Notice yet, but now that a release date has been set, we may get our first look at the picture within the next month or two. Netflix, unlike more traditional Hollywood studios, is infamous for delaying the distribution of new titles until very close to release, which means we may not see a full trailer until September. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Red Notice developments as they come in, so stay tuned to RadioTimes.com for the most up-to-date information on this Netflix series.

The Cast Of Red Notice

In recent years, Netflix has had little issue drawing big names, but Red Notice features an especially impressive cast. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will play FBI profiler Rusty, who is compelled to work with a prolific art thief (Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman 1984) and a notorious conman (Ryan Reynolds, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard).

The supporting cast has yet to be revealed in its entirety, however Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy) and Chris Diamantopoulos (Arrested Development) are rumoured to have been cast.

The Possible Plotline Update

For the time being, plot information for Red Notice is scant, but we do know that the film will revolve around an FBI officer and two most wanted criminals attempting a heist. The specifics of what they hope to take and why are yet to be revealed, but Netflix’s Head of Picture Scott Stuber has billed it as a “globe-trotting action-adventure film.”
