The launch of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D1) Mission, slated for Sunday, August 7, was annunced by ISRO on Monday, inviting the general public to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) viewing gallery in Sriharikota.

Visitors are drawn to the Space Port of India to watch the launch procedures and support the national pride. Thousands of spectators may watch the launch from the launch view gallery.

On March 14 at 12:05 IST at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, ISRO’s new launch vehicle, the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), underwent ground testing for the first time.

ALL OF THE TEST’S PROPULSION CHARACTERISTICS WERE FOUND TO BE SATISFACTORY AND CLOSELY IN LINE WITH THE FORECASTS.

A bond-free joint between the segments, a high power electromechanical actuator with digital control electronics, an optimised ignitor, and simultaneous propellant casting for all three segments are just a few of the new technologies and innovative processes that are included in the three-segment solid propulsion stage known as the SS1 motor. These features have all been successfully validated in ground testing.
The first developmental flight of SSLV (SSLV-D1), which was slated for May 2022, could now proceed thanks to the solid booster stage’s successful test, which had given adequate confidence. The final SSLV stages, SS2 and SS3, have performed all required ground testing and are now ready for integration.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SSLV-D1/EOS-02 MISSION.

The mission will be the SSLV-D1 launch vehicle’s first demonstration flight. The ISRO created a small-lift launch vehicle called the SSLV, or Small Satellite Launch Vehicle. Small satellite launches are the goal of the SSLV.

Small Satellite Launch Complex (SSLC), a specialised launch site, will be available at Sriharikota in the future, followed by a launch location close to Kulasekharapatnam in Tamil Nadu.

It will launch with the Indian EOS-02 microsatellite for Earth observation as well as AzaadiSAT, a satellite created by 750 female academics.
