Meta Quest Updates: For its Quest VR headsets, Meta is introducing a new account login method that does not involve checking in with a Facebook account. Instead, users will require a fresh Meta account that is not connected to Facebook. The company has stated that Meta will begin implementing this new account login mechanism in the month of August.

A fresh Meta account and Meta Horizon profile must be created for those who are new to Meta VR devices or who had previously combined their Oculus account with a Facebook account, according to the company.The business is introducing a new account login method for its Quest VR headsets that doesn’t require logging in with a Facebook account, as reported by Meta. Users will be able to use this system during the upcoming month. Users of Meta Quest who have combined their Oculus and Facebook accounts will now need to register a new Meta account and Meta Horizon profile in order to utilise the headset, according to the new login method.

Additionally, people who have been utilising their Oculus account to log onto their VR device can continue to use their headset until January 1, 2023.On that occasion, the business noted that “Your Meta account, which you use to connect into your VR devices and access and manage your purchased apps in one location, is not a social media profile. We’ll eventually expand the capability of your Meta account to allow you to log into other Meta devices.”

In order to communicate with friends in the VR version of Messenger, Quest headset users can choose to link their Meta account to the same accounts centre as their Facebook or Instagram accounts, according to Meta.According to the firm, Quest users will also be prompted to establish a Meta Horizon profile with a nickname, avatar, profile photo, and other details when creating a new Meta account.In addition to privacy controls, Meta asserts that this new account provides a variety of privacy options in the settings, including Open to Everyone, Friends and Family, and Solo accounts. After choosing this, users will have the option to check and make sure their personal privacy settings are configured as they desire.
