Luna Nera whose English meaning is Black Moon is an Italian web television series directed by a trio women – Francesca Manieri, Laura Paolucci and Tiziana Triana and starring Nina Fotaras, Giorgio Belli, Gloria Carovana and Giandomenico Cupaiuolo. It was premiered on January 31, 2020 on Netflix.

This series is based on the plot which takes place in 17th century in Italy and the plot revolves around women who are accused of being witches who defend themselves and fight back.This series has received acclaimed and received various positive reviews because of its unique story based on evil social practices of the medieval era, collective cast filled with elegant theater actors, sophisticated set design, spiritual practicality, historical and cultural accuracy.

This is women-centric. This made the show a unique from the rest. The inclusion of a magical story provided a fresh and powerful perspective on the barbaric oppression of women, prevailing since centuries.

Nina Fotaras is the main actress, she acted as Ade, a 16-year-old midwife whose life is about to change drastically. She is in love with a smart and charming Pietro. Giorgio Belli act as Pietro. Emili Mastrantoni act as the younger version of Ade.
Manuela Mandracchia acted as Tebe, the head of the mysterious community. The other women of the community include Adalgisa Manfrida acted as Persepolis, Lucrezia Guidone acted as Leptis, Federica Fracassi as Janara. The main Benandanti members are Gloria Carovana acted as Cesaria and Giandomenico Cupaiolo acted as Sante. Various other actors and actress also played a vital and praiseworthy role which made the series unique.

Luna Nera Season 2: Plot

This series took viewers in the 17th century Italy. During that medieval period  story of witch-hunts were highly prevalent. The series started with a story of the villagers who put an old woman into fire, after accusing her of practicing witchcraft. The show chronicles the life of a young midwife Ade who was the granddaughter of that old women. Ade was also accused of witchcraft after the death of a baby.
The incident seals her fate and forced her to leave the town and hold a tag ghostly powers on her name or pursue a forbidden love story with her boyfriend, Pietro.

Luna Nera Season 2: Release Date

In the context of ‘Luna Nera’ season 2 as the information, the show is based on a Tiziana Triana’s novel titled ‘Le città perdute. Luna nera: vol 1’.  Author has written several volumes of the novel. So if the director decided to make further sequel they have many more choices. As this is a unique show and viewers are eagerly waiting for its further sequel.
Probably it will on the air in the last 2020 or early 2021.
