KING OF COLLECTIBLES: THE GOLDIN TOUCH 2

HERE ARE THE LATEST REVIEW UPDATES OF KING OF COLLECTIBLES: THE GOLDIN TOUCH 2

The reality show King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch poses the question, “What is an item truly worth?” Part of Netflix’s move into reality, this show about an auction house had a strange mental contradictory effect on me. I watch’smart’ media all the time and all I can think about is ‘where is the female representation’. SERIES

Meanwhile, a ‘stupid’ reality TV show like Collectibles sent me into a frenzy over exploitation and objectification. I originally had this impression during the pilot, when Ken Goldin, Goldin’s creator, was auctioning off a piece of Jackie Robinson’s history. He tries to be courteous, even if it is potentially crass to auction off historic Black heritage.

However, the Vandals legitimised the Church in Germany by removing the bodies of Italian saints. Funnily enough, one of the artefacts with an arc in this season is purportedly Cleopatra’s hand. In comparison, auctioning off Jackie Robinson’s jersey or a LeBron James card recognising his victories – plural – does not appear as callous.

This season features many more arcs, but it focuses on the family-like working environment at Goldin. King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch takes this to a literal level, illustrating Ken’s connection with his prankster daughter, Laura. Ken offers Laura a job at Goldin, but she declines in order to pursue other opportunities. Of course, she returns to the fold as one of Goldin’s hip hop liaisons.

The episodes this season are also longer to reflect Ken’s desire to expand beyond auctioning sports memorabilia. However, with its episode arcs, King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch understands what its namesake does best.

An arc concerns a Wembanyama rookie card offer that Ryan, Ken’s rookie, misunderstands. It is apparent that exhibitions like this exacerbate certain tensions, but such approaches are risky.

Ken demonstrates the same commitment to inspire his rookies, even if it means combining his business with his friendships. One of the friendships featured in Collectibles, albeit very brief, is one he has with the GOAT Barry Bonds. The show portrays Bonds, once the scariest man in baseball, in a more effete but surprisingly human light.

collectibles often represent douchebags, such as Karl Malone from previous season and Steve Aoki from this season. But behind all of this douchebaggery are the human tales included within the items they sell publicly or, in some cases, privately.

During the Cleopatra arc, one of Goldin’s authenticators claims that history flows at the same speed as historyWise words. View King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch on Netflix.
