The White House announced on Thursday that Joe Biden, the oldest person to ever hold the office of president of the United States, has tested positive for Covid-19, is suffering from minor symptoms, and will continue working albeit in isolation.
White House physician Kevin O’Connor wrote in a note made public on Thursday that 79-year-old Biden had a runny nose, tiredness, and an infrequent dry cough, symptoms that he started experiencing late on Wednesday. According to O’Connor, Biden has started taking the antiviral medication Paxlovid.
In a video sent to his Twitter account, Biden claimed to be “doing fine” despite being fully immunised and twice boosted. He also stated in the 21-second tape that he was “getting a lot of stuff done” and would carry on with his responsibilities.
