In November 2020, the couple announced their engagement. “Not everything in the wedding environment is for you yet when you’re part of the LGBTQ+ family,” Vaughan, 38, explained.

“The whole point of our wedding is to bring the two of us together, to bring our families together, and to form a new family,” says the bride. “And as we went through this process, we understood that our wedding is also about more than just us,” Bennett, 40, added. “It’s about the entire community,” says the speaker.

Each man penned his own vows and presented the other with a diamond-encrusted ring. They intend to utilize their wedding night to teach others how to create their own unique traditions as they enter the world as a married couple.
