James Webb Space Telescope Raw Data Used To Create Breath-Taking Images Of Spiral Galaxies: World Update Today!!!

INTRODUCTION:

James Webb Updates: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has produced some interesting images utilising its data after taking the deepest and brightest infrared image of the far universe. Two spiral galaxies were captured in some of the most magnificent images thanks to Judy Schmidt, a citizen scientist, who analysed the JWST’s raw data.

The nearby galaxies NGC 628 and NGC 7496 are both being investigated as part of the Physics at High Angular resolution in Nearby Galaxies project (PHANGS).The Judy Schmidt processed image of the NGC 628 spiral galaxy, sometimes known as the Phantom Galaxy, is only 32 million light-years away and provides enough of information for study. It is regarded as a grand design galaxy because its arms are prominent, clear, and well-formed. The galaxy gains importance, and NGC 628 has at least three supernovae, according to researchers.

While the spiral arms of the NGC 7496 stretch from a conspicuous bar that frequently crosses the galaxy’s centre, it is known as a barred galaxy. According to others, the unequal density of the galactic disc is what caused the formation. A star is drawn to a region with high density, creating bars as a result.The distance to NGC 7496 is 24 million lightyears.Because the gas in these bars is directed inward, they are a site of active star formation. The JWST operates in infrared light and has the ability to detect light behind gas and dust in optical wavelengths, in contrast to the Hubble telescope which is an optical and ultraviolet instrument.As a result, the observations made by the two telescopes turn out to be complementary, with Hubble capturing the dust and JWST peering into it to observe the young stars.
