Here Are The Latest Updates Of Downton Abbey: A New Era
Downton Abbey: A New Era is the follow-up to the immensely successful 2019 Downton Abbey film, which was itself a spin-off from the iconic television series. Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, and Elizabeth McGovern will all reprise their roles in the Downton Abbey sequel, which will be welcomed by fans.
In addition, a slew of new cast members, including Dominic West, has been confirmed. Filming began in 2021, and Dominic West has expressed his apprehension about joining the ensemble.
“It’s extremely daunting coming onto a show that’s been going for so long that’s such a great phenomenon and such a big success,” he stated on Downton Abbey: The Official Podcast.
Plot Updates Of Downton Abbey: A New Era
The first trailer for Downton Abbey: A New Era (which you can watch below) unveiled a slew of narrative points. Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) states in a hilarious scene: “Years ago, before you were born, I met a man…” Her son Robert (Hugh Bonneville) is sufficiently taken aback by the discovery.
She then goes on to say that the unknown stranger has gifted her with a villa in France! Lady Mary shouts, “What?!?” (Michelle Dockery). So, we know the Crawleys will be embarking on a new adventure in France. They appear to be having a good time… and Violet’s inheritance appears to be more than meets the eye.
Cast Updates Of Downton Abbey: A New Era
The entire major cast has returned. Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley), Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley), Maggie Smith (Violet Crawley), Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary), Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), and Penelope Wilton (Lady Edith) return from upstairs (Isobel Merton).
Jim Carter (Mr. Carson), Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), Robert James-Collier (Thomas Barrow), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore), Sophie McShera (Daisy), and Joanne Froggatt (Daisy) will be back on the set downstairs (Anna Bates). Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, Dominic West, and Hugh Dancy are among the new cast members that spoke with us about filming the picture.
With everyone from the actors seen in the poster set to return, fans are worried that something bad will happen to Lady Mary’s second husband in the upcoming film due to Henry Talbot’s (Matthew Goode) omission.
Release Date Updates Of Downton Abbey: A New Era
Downton Abbey: A New Era will hit theatres on May 20 in the United States and April 29 in the United Kingdom. It was supposed to be out in March, but it was postponed.
