Equal is an upcoming documentary television series which is directed by Stephen Kijak and Kimberly Reed. United States is the country of origin and English is the original language of this series. Executive producer of this series is David Collins, Michael Williams, Rob Eric, Joel Chiodi, Greg Berlanti, Jim Parsons, Jon Jashni and Mike Darnell.

Producer of this series is Diane Becker and Melanie Miller. They have planned to release 4 episodes and each episode runs up to 60 minutes. Production companies of this series are Warner Horizon, Unscripted Television, Scout Productions, Berlanti Productions, Raintree Ventures and That’s Wonderful Productions. HBO Max is the distributor and original network of this series.




Equal: Plot Lines

First episode explores the rise of Mattachine Societ and the Daughters of Bilitis; second episode focuses on the 20th Century transgender movement which is including the 1996 Compton Cafeteria riots. Third episode highlights contributions from the Black community to the growing LGBTQ civil rights movement and also the fourth episode tackles the Stonewall Riots and the beginning of the pride movement.

Equal: Cast and Characters

For episode one the main cast and characters are Cheyenne Jackson as Dale Jennings, Anthony Rapp as Harry Hay, Shannon Purser as Del Martin, Heather Matarazzo as Phyllis Lyon, Sara Gilbert as J.M. from Cleveland, Anne Ramsay as The FBI Agent and for the second episode has the cast and characters like Alexandra Grey as Lucy Hicks Anderson, Theo Germaine as Jack Starr, Jamie Clayton as Christine Jorgensen, Isis King as Alexis, Samira Wiley as Lorraine Hansberg, Jai Rodriguez as Jose Sarria and Keiyan Lonsdale as Bayard Rustin. Episode 4 has some cast members like Hailie Sahar as Sylvia Rivera, Scott Turner Schofield as Craig Rodwell, Cole Doman as Mark Segal, Elizabeth Ludlow as Storme DeLarverie, Gale Harols as Howard Smith and Sam Pancake as Dick Leitsch.

Equal: Release Date

On October 16, 2019 it was announced that HBO Max has commissioned an LGBTQ+ historical documentary series. It is the first production from the company’s documentary series unit with four hour long episodes from Warner Horizon Unscripted Television. As of now the release date has not yet announced, however we are assuming that this series will probably release in the end of 2021.
