Emily The Criminal Updates: The narrative of a “regular” person who is compelled by dire circumstances to enter a life of crime is one kind of film or TV show that has endured in popularity.

“Fish out of water” crime stories can range in tone from serious to comic (Hustlers,” “Breaking Bad,” “Ozark”) (“Pineapple Express,” “Weeds,” “Analyze This”).

But they all share something fundamentally similar: they are relatable. Even if we don’t like to admit it, it’s simple to picture ourselves being forced to breach the law.

You might want to watch “Emily the Criminal” if you like fish out of water stories or crime-related TV shows.
The planned film, which is a Low Spark Films production, was first covered by Deadline on August 18, 2021.
Even better, “Emily the Criminal” is well into production and should be released soon.

“Emily the Criminal” seems to be a fish out of water tale about a woman who is compelled to begin a life of crime.
According to the description given in the Deadline report, the movie “tells the story of Emily (Plaza), who is down on her luck and drowning in debt, who gets engaged in a credit card scam that takes her into the criminal underworld of Los Angeles, ultimately leading to tragic repercussions.”
Whether “Emily the Criminal” will be a comedy, drama, or something in between is not yet known.
Plaza has a history of working with comedians, but she’s also diversified into more dramatic parts, most notably appearing in the comedies “Ingrid Goes West” (2017) and “Black Bear” (2020).
Comedy and drama are frequently found in the other films directed by John Patton Ford.
The Tracking Board described his second current movie, “Rothchild,” as a “darkly comic thriller” that resembles a cross between “Kill Bill” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.” “Emily the Criminal” will probably fulfil both requirements.

Emily The Criminal

According to Deadline, Aubrey Plaza from “Parks & Recreation” will play the lead in “Emily the Criminal.”
Plaza is a producer as well. Gina Gershon and Megalyn Echikunwoke are joining Plaza.
Gershon, who is most known for her roles in “Showgirls,” “Face/Off,” and “P.S. I Love You,” will be seen in the upcoming “Borderlands” film, which is based on the computer game.
Echikunwoke has made numerous film and television appearances. On “The 4400,” “Made in Jersey,” and “Damien,” she was a recurring character.
John Patton Ford, who wrote and directed the movie, is the only other announced talent.
His feature screenplay, “Rothchild,” was ranked #5 on the 2014 Black List, a prestigious annual ranking list for the best unproduced screenplays. His short film, “Patrol,” was shortlisted for the 2011 Academy Awards.
This will be his first credit as a screenwriter and director for a full-length film (via Normal Content).

The movie Emily the Criminal will be released on August 12, 2022.
