Dimitris Lignadis, an actor and director, was found after two rapes.

Here are the complete updates on Dimitris Lignadis’s affairs only on premiere next website.

A well-known Greek stage actor and director named Dimitris Lignadis was found guilty of raping two young guys. In two of the four rape cases, the 57-year-old was found guilty by an Athens court on Wednesday.

In a third case, Lignadis was exonerated due to a lack of evidence, and despite a court order requiring him to, the fourth accuser never showed up to testify. He had given an incorrect address. Dimitris Lignadis was found guilty of two rapes that took place in 2010 and 2015.

The defense attorney for Lignadis testified in court after the guilty verdict in favor of mitigating circumstances. After the defense attorney’s arguments were refuted by the prosecution, the court chose not to accept them. For each count of rape, the prosecutor suggested a sentence of 12 years. In order to decide on the sentencing, the court has adjourned.

The appeals procedure can take a while since Greece’s legal system is infamous for its lag time. Lignadis’ attorney, Alexis Kougias, argued in court for his client’s release pending appeal, warning the three judges and four jurors not to “destroy” his client’s life because it might take three to four years for an appeals decision to be made.

Since Lignadis hadn’t admitted to his crimes, the prosecutor had argued against his release on the grounds that he would do others. Dimitris Lignadis had been found guilty in two of the four rape trials earlier on Wednesday.

Since he has refuted the allegations, Dimitris Lignadis is eligible to appeal the verdict and seems certain to do so. By the time the accusations appeared in February 2021, Lignadis had been sentenced to prison. He had resigned from his position as creative director of Greece’s National Theater, which he had held since 2019, a few days previously.

For each of the two rapes, the prosecutor had asked for a 12-year sentence. He was given a total prison term of 12 years after the judges and jury chose to condemn him to 10 years in one case and 5 years in the other, with some of the sentences being served consecutively.

In Greek criminal courts, judges and jurors jointly cast equal-weight votes on the issues of guilt, punishment, any mitigating circumstances, and release prior to appeal. On a 4-3 decision, the release pending appeal was approved.

An appeal will be handled by a court of five judges. When the allegations were made public in February 2021, Lignadis had already been sentenced to prison. He had resigned from his position as creative director of Greece’s National Theater, which he had held since 2019, a few days previously.
