Six days after the release of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ actress Charlize Theron shared her first official glimpse as Clea, a character introduced in the Marvel Studios film’s mid-credits scene. Theron’s casting as Clea had been rumored for a few weeks as word of the film’s many shocks began to circulate online.
However, this is the first time Theron has admitted that she is portraying the character. While Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is going along the street, Theron emerges in full body armor.
She informs him that his multiverse hopping acts in the film resulted in an “incursion” between realities, which, contrary to popular belief, was not the case.
- Clea was hinted at in the Doctor Strange post-credits scene
- Clea may appear in a film or series in the future
- Clea is Doctor Strange’s lover and a sorceress in the comics
Charlize Theron as Clea in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Clea wants Strange to join her in repairing the damage after breaking the fabric of reality to disclose a passage to the Dark Dimension — i.e. her home. IN the Marvel comics, Clea is a fellow sorcerer whose genealogy can be traced back to Dormammu, the Dark Dimension’s overlord who battled Strange in the conclusion of 2016’s ‘Doctor Strange.
‘Clea and Strange eventually marry, although Clea is forced to commute between the Dark Dimension and Strange’s world, which puts a strain on their relationship. It’s unclear where Theron’s Clea will fit into the MCU at this moment, but the post-credit scene definitely hints she and Cumberbatch will star in the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange film.
Charlize Theron has unveiled Clea, the latest member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Oscar winner took to Instagram and Twitter to reveal a few behind-the-scenes photographs of herself dressed in the role, piquing the interest of movie fans.
Clea was first teased in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness post-credits sequence, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. Clea is Doctor Strange’s lover and a skilled sorceress in her own right in the Marvel comics. For those who are unaware, Clea is the niece of Dormammu, the villain from Doctor Strange.
While we don’t know what Clea’s future in the MCU holds, she is slated to appear with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange 3. Given Theron’s celebrity, Clea could be the subject of a feature film or television series in the future.
