From January 2020 until his death in a helicopter crash in December 2021, he was the first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces. General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), died in a tragic Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper crash, along with his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other passengers. On Friday, Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were laid to rest at the Brar Square cremation in Delhi, where political figures and army officers from across the country gathered to pay their respects to the Chief.Kritika Rawat and Tarini Rawat, their two daughters, performed the last rites for their parents.

IN December 2019, General Bipin Rawat was named the first CDS of India, and his family has served in the Indian Army for four generations.Rawat’s family has served in the Indian Army for four generations, and he was born in Pauri, Uttrakhand. Dr. Madhulika Rawat, his wife, worked for the welfare of Army women, children, and dependents. She was the president of the American Women’s Water Association (AWWA) (Army Wives Welfare Association). She graduated from Delhi University with a degree in psychology and has worked on a variety of humanitarian projects and programmers, including those for Army widows, cancer patients, differently abled children, and others.

Two daughters, Kritika Rawat and Tarini Rawat, survive General Bipin Rawat and Madhulika Rawat. Kritika, the eldest daughter, is married and the mother of a son. Kritika Rawat, a younger daughter who is an advocate, stayed with her mother and father.Laxman Singh Rawat, Bipin Rawat’s father, served in the Indian Army and rose to the rank of Lieutenant General. His mother, on the other hand, was the daughter of Kishan Singh Parmar, a former member of the Uttarkashi Legislative Assembly (MLA).On December 10, 2021, Bipin Rawat and his wife were cremated with full military honours at Brar Square in New Delhi, according to Hindu customs.
