In July 2020, HBO Max added “Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4” to its streaming repertoire. The series joined the likes of “Hunter X Hunter,” “Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood,” and a number of other series on the streaming site, bolstering what was then and now is a slowly-but-steadily increasing range of anime available on the streaming service.
Three seasons of “Bungo Stray Dogs” are currently accessible on HBO Max, making up the entire series so far. Although no official announcement has been made as to whether or not a fourth season would be produced, certain clues point to its future release.
The Plot Of Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4
The final five episodes of Season 3 of “Bungo Stray Dogs” are an adaptation of the Cannibalism Arc, which is part of the series’ continuous story (via the Bungo Stray Dogs Wiki). Perhaps most significantly, the arc features Rats in the House of the Dead, a criminal organization managed by Fyodor Dostoevsky, who is called “Demon” by Osamu Dazai and named after a renowned book like the rest of the series ‘primary protagonists.
Dostoevsky continues to play a role in the manga series beyond the Cannibalism Arc, so fans can expect to see him again as the anime progresses. The Decay of Angels Arc is the title of the subsequent plot arc of “Bungo Stray Dogs” (via the Bungo Stray Dogs Wiki). Decay of Angels, another criminal organization, is at its core. Dostoevsky is one of the group’s members. Nikola Gogol, Bram Stoker, Ochi Fukuchi, and Sigma are among the other villains in the organization.
The Cast of Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4
Atsushi Nakajima, the protagonist of the series, is voiced by Yto Uemura. Uemura is a seasoned anime voice actor who has appeared in a number of other well-known series (via IMDb). In “My Hero Academia,” he voices shape-shifting senior student Tamaki Amajiki, while in “Haikyuu!!,”. Osamu Dazai is voiced by Mamoru Miyano. Light Yagami’s voice in “Death Note” and twin brother Atsumu Miya’s voice in “Haikyuu!” are two of his most well-known previous roles. Miyano is most known in the video game world as the voice of Ryuji Sakamoto, the protagonist of “Persona 5”.
Kensho Ono as Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Yoshi masa Hosoya as detective Doppo Kunikida, Hiroshi Kamiya as detective Ranpo Edogawa, Yu Shimamura as detective Akiko Yosano, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as detective Junichiro Tanizaki, and Kisho Taniyama as mobster Chuya Nakahara round out the voice cast of “Bungo Stray Dogs”.
Without confirmation of the fourth season of “Bungo Stray Dogs,” it’s impossible to say who will return to reprise their roles. Given their importance to the series ‘ongoing story, the majority, if not all, of the key voice cast can be expected to return if the series is renewed.
