BULLSHIT: THE QUIZSHOW SEASON 1
Throughout the game, players will climb a money ladder by correctly answering questions or boldly presenting erroneous answers – and convincing others that they are accurate. With so much money at stake, you don’t have to be the smartest person in the room to win; all you have to do is persuade everyone that you are. This summer, it will be available on the streaming service.Nash and Potts, who have built a name for themselves with raunchy nonscripted shows including a dating competition series with Meat Loaf based on his 1993 hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” produced the show. The duo is working on a project with ITV America, with whom they have an overall arrangement. The showrunner will be David Friedman, who previously worked on NBC’s Titan Games and Fox’s The Four: Battle for Stardom. He executive produces alongside Nash and Potts, as well as David Eilenberg and Simon Thomas of ITV America. Alan Carter, the director of The Voice, is in charge of the series. It’s Mandel’s first time hosting for the streamer. He was a judge on NBC’s America’s Got Talent for eleven seasons and will also be a judge on the remake of Canada’s Got Talent, which will broadcast on CityTV in March 2022, alongside Lilly Singh, Kardinal Offishall, and Trish Stratus. His documentary Howie Mandel: But Enough About Me is currently streaming on Peacock, and he is a host and executive producer on CNBC’s Deal or No Deal, as well as a co-host on Nat Geo Wild’s Animals Doing Things alongside his son Alex, and an exec producer on the Quibi series Kirby Jenner.
Netflix has been beefing up its unscripted programming, and has previously dabbled in the game show genre with shows like Awake: The Million Dollar Game from Victoria Ashbourne’s Hello Dolly and Flinch from Stellify Media, as well as a tropical game show in development with The Circle producer Studio Lambert. It was taking more broadcastsized swings, according to Brandon Riegg, VP, Unscripted and Documentary Series, who told Deadline last year.”At least one huge traditional type game show will be shown, followed by several of these performance type events, and finally competitiontype shows.” Coming up are a few that are both witty and intriguing. If we can carry it off the manner we expect with our production partners, it will open up a whole new world for us.
