Today I am going to write about  technology updates today: Apple Keeps Adding Employees for Mixed Reality Headset Project; Listing Indicates 3D World, Video Service Gurman.

Apple is currently developing a mixed reality headset, which is anticipated to go on sale in 2019. After the success of its smartphones, the virtual and augmented reality headset is seen as Apple’s next major investment.

According to a Bloomberg story, the Cupertino company is apparently continuing to hire engineers for the Technology Development Group (TDG) that is developing its AR and VR technology.

An early preview of some of the device’s features is being provided through the job listings and staff moves at Apple.

Additionally, Apple has hired Dave Scott, a previous manager who left the organisation last year and moved developers working on other projects to the headset team.

The TDG, which is working on the company’s ambitious mixed-reality headgear and other AR/VR technologies, has undergone administrative changes, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his weekly Power On newsletter. A few job postings suggest that Apple is stepping up efforts to strengthen the device with content.

Gurman claims that the organisation is trying to find a software developer with background in visual effects and game asset pipelines who can build digital content for augmented- and virtual-reality settings.

The job postings also reveal Apple’s intention to create a video service for the headset that will offer 3D content that can be seen in VR mode.

Additionally, Gurman stated in his newsletter that Apple is seeking developers to work on the creation of development tools for augmented and virtual reality. In some listings, there are even clues of App Intents, which would support services like Siri, Search, and Shortcuts.

A 3D MIXED-REALITY WORLD’S CREATION IS ALSO MENTIONED IN ONE JOB POSTING:

indicating that Apple is developing a digital ecosystem like the metaverse. They would collaborate with other developers, Apple’s UI framework, human interface designers, and system capabilities teams to “create tools and frameworks to enable linked experiences in a 3D mixed-reality world,” in order to address issues with the 3D application space.

According to Gurman, Dave Scott, a former senior manager at Apple who worked on the company’s Project Titan self-driving car unit until 2021, has joined the company.

Gurman claims that Scott’s assistance could offer health applications for the headgear because he is renowned for his expertise in the robotics and medical industries and for completing challenging items in time for shipping.

YANIV GUR, AN ENGINEER WHO HAS WORKED FOR APPLE FOR 20 YEARS, APPARENTLY JOINED THE HEADSET TEAM:

Gur’s appointment makes me think that the corporation is creating a collection of productivity apps for the headset, according to Gurman, who also notes that the headset team already has an operating system executive named Geoff Stahl.

For a while now, Apple’s mixed reality headset has been making headlines, although the firm has yet to acknowledge the creation of such a gadget. Pegatron is said to be the device’s primary supplier, and the debut is anticipated for early 2023.

According to reports, Apple will power the mixed reality headset with an M2 CPU and 16GB of RAM. It is rumoured to run a brand-new operating system called realityOS, which would enable users to see some invisible objects. For login and payment purposes, iris scanning might be used.
