On March 1, Apple prohibited the use of Apple Pay, which was launched in Russia in 2016.

Apple’s Apple Pay service for Russia’s Mir card payment system has been discontinued, Russia’s largest lender and payments system announced on Friday, eliminating a gap that had allowed Russians to continue using the service.

In the wake of Russia’s decision to send tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on February 24, Apple banned the usage of Apple Pay in Russia on March 1, barring Russian Mastercard and Visa cards from utilizing the service.
