Amazon Prime Video India Announces 58 Titles 35 Series And 23 Movies For Next Two Years

Amazon Prime Video has announced 58 Indian titles for the next two years — 2022, 2023, and early 2024 — and they’re jampacked with enough big names to please everyone.

Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Arya, Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Aditi Rao Hyadri, Juhi Chawla, Vikramaditya Motwane, Raj & DK, Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Sudip Sharma, Nikkhil Advani, Farhan Akhtar, Puneet Krishna, Anu Menon, Abhishek Sharma, and Rohit Shetty are among those who have contributed.

With nine projects across the board, Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment — best known for Mirzapur on Prime Video and Bollywood films like Dil Chahta Hai — is the most regular feature in Amazon’s new Indian slate. This is thanks to five licenced films that will initially be released in theatres before being streamed exclusively on Prime Video.

The remaining four are originals, with Mirzapur and Made in Heaven returning, as well as the new series Dahaad starring Sonakshi Sinha and Bambai Meri Jaan starring Kay Kay Menon. Yash Raj Films (five films, all licenced), Karan Johar’s Dharma (two originals, three licenced), Abundantia Entertainment (two originals and two coproductions), and Raj & DK’s D2R Films are among the other significant production firms (three originals).

Amazon Prime Video India Announces 58 Titles 35 Series And 23 Movies For Next Two Years

This is the largest slate of products Amazon has announced from India all at once, and there will undoubtedly be more announcements over the following two years. Amazon Studios CEO Jennifer Salke said this was part of the company’s aim to treble investment in generating local content from India over the next five years at its “Prime Video Presents India” event on Thursday in Mumbai.

However, no concert investment figures were supplied. When Amazon founder and then-CEO Jeff Bezos visited India in early 2020, he virtually said the same thing: “We’ve decided to double down on our Prime Video efforts here in India.” There are 35 series and 23 movies among the 58 Indian titles coming to Prime Video.

Amazon announced 18 new original scripted series and four documentary series, to break it down even more. It also renewed three continuing scripted shows, as well as giving us first glimpses at or more information on six returning and four new ones.

There are 17 licenced films from YRF and Excel Media (five each, as previously stated), Ajay Devgn FFilms (four films), and Dharma Productions (three films) (three). There are six films left, including five new announcements and the first look at Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu.
