Later, an hour-long election special was made. Adam Ruins Everything was renewed for a 16-episode season by truTV on December 7, 2016, and premiered on July 11, 2017. On March 20, 2018, a six-episode animated miniseries named Reanimated History was released. TruTV announced on May 9, 2018, that the show had been renewed for ten more episodes and would return in late 2018. On July 8, 2019, it was revealed that eight more season 3 episodes would be released that year, starting on August 13, 2019. Conover revealed on his website on December 1, 2020 that Adam Ruins Everything was effectively over because a new Netflix show called The G Word was in the works.

Adam Destroys Everything is based on the same-named CollegeHumor online series, which starring comic Adam Conover. Each episode begins with a regular person going about their daily life before addressing a common misunderstanding about a certain subject. Emily Axford, a recurrent cast member, is usually the individual in question. Adam emerges out of nowhere and introduces himself, as well as informing the other character and the viewer of the character’s statement’s inaccuracies.

This conversation serves as a springboard for a more in-depth discussion of commonly held beliefs and falsehoods about the topic, in which Adam provides historical context to explain how the ideas in question became popularized, introduces real-life experts who explain these details, and cites peer-reviewed science studies and other empirical sources. The citations appear briefly onscreen when he does this. This knowledge is conveyed through the use of sketch characters, time travel, and animated parts, often to the chagrin of the other character.

The other characters’ frustration will reach a breaking point at the end of the third act, leaving them disillusioned and powerless. However, in the fourth act, Adam responds with a “positive takeaway,” describing how the new knowledge offered can help solve the problem and how the characters and their points of view can work together to enhance society and their lives.

Conover plays himself in the show. He takes the audience and the secondary character through a succession of explanations, guiding them through the process of distinguishing between facts and beliefs. He claims that he “destroys” people’s preconceptions because he truly believes that they would be better off as a result.

Emily Axford, who also stars as herself, is frequently a supporting character who is subjected to Conover’s lengthy lectures. This is subverted in several episodes, with Axford delivering the speech. Murph, a high school PE and health teacher and Axford’s husband, is played by Brian K. Murphy, and Uncle Sam is played by Amos Vernon. Experts from many fields are frequently featured on the show due to its informative and instructional character.

The possibility of a fourth season of the show has sparked a lot of speculation. However, neither the network nor the producers have said anything about it. The programme has social media accounts on a variety of platforms, but they aren’t saying anything. Conover, on the other hand, appears to be concentrating on Twitch content for the video game ‘Dark Souls III’ these days. The fourth season of ‘Adam Ruins Everything’ is expected to premiere in 2021.
